Charity Intelligence’s financial review of HPIC explains that it is a medium-sized charity, with donations ranging from $1.2m-$1.8m from the year 2012-2016. The financial review states that HPIC’s administrative cost Is only 2 per cent of revenues and its fundraising cost are 20 per cent of donations. For every $1.00 of your money donated to HPIC, 79 cents is put directly to its programs, placing it within Ci’s reasonable range. The charity’s administrative costs at 2 per cent of rervenus, which leads to Charity Intelligence’s donor accountability score of C+. HPIC’s financial transparency is rated 3/5 as it does provide the public with financial statements for current and previous years on the charity website.


            In the year 2017, HPIC was able to treat over 800,000 people with the close to $20m of medical relief shipped 1.6 million treatments provided. Of every $1 donated, HPIC multiplies it to deliver at least $10 of medicine to the field. Since HPIC’s first project in 1990, over 20,000,000 people have been treated with over $500 million in medicines and medical supplied throughout 110 different countries!

I agree, that it feels shallow and unfulfilling when you are forced to partake and cold-pitch (often on a door-to-door basis) to customers. I also believe that customers would find this type of pitching swallow, and feel like they too, are being cornered into participating. That said, I can appreciate team challenges in terms of fundraising, but perhaps there is a better way to motivate employees, leaving them feeling like they are making a difference on their own watch, and not on the agenda of the highly paid corporate team in a large brand organization like Aveda.
